Have your canning jars clean and lids in hot water, they will seal better.
 
First go out and pick tomatoes, wash them to get any dirt of from the with water only.
 
Next have a large hot pan of water to scaled the tomatoes, they will only stay in water long enough to break the skin.
 
When done; with a slotted large spoon take the out and put in a cold water bath
 
When cooled peel the tomatoes, cut them how you would like to eat them into a large kittle.
 
When almost full put in to taste Salt.
 
You do not add any water to the tomatoes they will make there own liquid.
 
Bring the tomatoes to a boil and then turn them down so that they will continue a good simmer.  Cook about 20 minutes
 
I do not turn off the stove to can the tomatoes.  Their is funnels that will fit into canning jars so that you will be able to get them in jars better.
 
Seal right away and as the cool the lids will here them with a small pop.
 
You can also can the tomatoes in pressure cooker canner, chop the tomatoes or leave them whole for what ever you would want to use them
